Who We Are
Sunshine State Homeschoolers is a nonprofit homeschool organization and one of only four independent organizations listed by the Florida Department of Education as providing additional resources for home education parents. We provide resources, services, programs, and community opportunities for homeschool families throughout Florida. We are also a Step Up for Students approved Home Education Instructional Program. As an organization run by current homeschooling parents, we understand the practical needs of homeschool families because we live them too. Sunshine was created to be a one-stop resource for homeschooling — combining educational support with meaningful opportunities for students and families to connect.
Our Central Florida community includes co-ops, enrichment programs, regular field trips, social and educational meet-ups, clubs, special events, graduation, and more. Sunshine is also home to our well-known Teen Dances, a tradition since 2015. These events regularly bring together large groups of homeschool teens and have received local media attention, including our 2021 Fall Ball featured in the Orlando Sentinel!
Our goal is to make homeschooling easier to navigate while creating meaningful opportunities for families to learn, connect, build friendships, and be part of a supportive homeschool community.
